The first show of the season went very smoothly. The audience was very responsive and we all had a great time. There are still many technical problems that need to be addressed, but we proved that in-door drum corps is feasible. Over the next few weeks we will finish cleaning the show, add our second percussionists, and add the finale, along with lots of visual effects.

The last show in Houston went incredibly well considering the Corps Director passed out maps that were wrong, Eric was and hour and a half late arriving at the school, and the camera crew was nowhere to be found until 45 minutes before the show. However, everything came together and we even had 15 minutes to relax in the band room before heading to the rehearsal gym.
The show was the best all year. Everything was clicking. There were no phasing issues, the dynamics were obvious, the visuals were correct, and when is was time to get loud we cranked it up. The audience responded well and everyone had a great time.
Once again, we took first place. So far we're undefeated. It's almost a shame they don't give out rings at Finals!

Encompass Services Corporation, a 3 billion dollar a year, Fortune 500 company, asked us to play for their July "Corporate Celebration." And coincidently it's where I work. Being a work day the full corps couldn't attend, but we did managed a nice ensemble.
We performed the Star Spangled Banner and Phantom Regiments' Amazing Grace. The non-drum corps audience was at first very apprehensive seeing 7 bugles aimed right at their heads. But once they realized we weren't going assault their eardrums with a lot of blasting and noise (this isn't marching band, it's DRUM CORPS) they got into it and were very appreciative. (I heard nothing but good comments all week)
Special thanks to Mike (Pud) Palmquist for helping us out. He's now an honorary member, much like a corps mascot.

Here's a few pictures of the Corps at the DCA Mini-Corps competition. Someday I'll get the video of this performance on the website. We put on a pretty darn good show and had a great time doing it. Next year DCA says we'll actually have LIGHTS on the field!
