For the first time the corps marched the show playing the horns. Previously we had been using a tape of the midi file in order to learn the drill a little faster.
This was also the first joint rehearsal with the MCM Color Guard and the percussionist. It went extremely smooth. By the end of the night the horns and drums had locked in a good tempo and were able to do the show up to the point where we're stopping for the first contest. (We'll save the Grand Finale for the second contest) The guard went all night without killing any horns, which is ALWAYS a good thing.

This was the first rehearsal for the DCA Mini-Corps competition. UH was booked up due to a summer band thing. So, Dave Schneider offered to let the Corps rehearse at the Pearland Volunteer Fire Department. Surprisingly the acoustics were pretty good.
We got started an hour late because of some severe thunderstorms moving through central and south Houston. We spent the first 20 minutes in sectionals working out the new chart, Brass Machine. By the end of the night we managed to get through the whole piece 3 or 4 times. For 1 hour, 15 minute rehearsal we got a LOT accomplished. We also reviewed Summertime and tried out the shortened percussion break and modified finale.
